Reasonable support for those recently made redundant & not eligible for furlough
Introduce a system of payment at 80% of income capped at £2500 per month for those recently made redundant paid directly to individuals in the same way as those who are furloughed through employers. Those with saved capital > £16,000 who fall into this gap also have no support from universal credit.
The Chancellor spoke very clearly that nobody will be left behind in receiving support through the current Covid-19 situation however there is still clear failings in this system.
Currently should a company be in the process of liquidation prior to the outbreak they are not obliged to furlough staff who are then left at the mercy of universal credit, which is simply not enough while some still earn £30k per year furloughed. Those with savings of over £16,000 will not be eligible for any support
