Petition Action

Include the 'newly' self-employed who are not included in CV19 income support.

Petition Details

Currently the self-employed are only protected if they had filed Tax Returns for 2018/19 and two years prior and if over 50% of their income came from self-employment. This leaves nearly 2 million self-employed people who due to CV19 have lost all their income without any Government support.

Additional Information

If the Government mantra is "we are all in this together" why exclude so many not well-off self-employed people from the support. This leaves approximately 2 million self-employed people, who are more recently self-employed, without any income support. The Government's interpretation of self-employed is far too restrictive and needs to be addressed urgently. Why would you exclude so many people from support?
