Formally re-establish the UK civil defence organisations and infrastructure
Re-form the welfare, hospital and crisis support elements of the UK civil defence organisations (such as a modern Civil Defence Corps and National Hospital Service Reserve) to reinforce the statutory services, support charitable organisations and coordinate volunteer community action.
Successive governments have long neglected the civil defence infrastructure of the United Kingdom, to the point that, during times of national emergency, the country finds itself ill-prepared. The current Covid-19 pandemic, the nationwide flooding of 2019 and other destructive weather cycles have exposed how the UK is over-reliant on a patchwork of charities and public goodwill to cope with crisis. We ask that the Government act now and begin to prepare for the next national or global crisis.
