Captain Tom Moore to be knighted for fund-raising services as soon as it is safe
Captain Moore has not only raised a large amount of money for the NHS very rapidly, he has shown the nation the characteristics needed in this extraordinary time: resilience, determination, modesty and a commitment to help others.
It is usual for government to make recommendations to HM The Queen for the New Year's Honour list. Given the extraordinary circumstances, there should be no delay, and Captain Tom should be knighted as soon as it is safe to do so.
