More severe prison sentences / Attacks categorised by law, as hate crimes.
Review the current custodial sentences.
Emergency service workers are essential for a civilised society. Attacks on emergency workers are increasing which could indicate current custodial sentences are not an adequate deterrent for such crimes.
Also, recruiting and retaining workers may increase due to more severe penalties, as this indicates greater support and backing for our precious emergency services.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We understand that you want the Government to change the penalties for some crimes, but it's not clear if you're talking about hate crimes, or attacks against emergency workers.
We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
Mandatory jail sentence for assaulting (eg. spitting/coughing) emergency worker: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/309432
If you want the Government to increase penalties for all hate crimes, you could start a petition requesting it, but it would need to be clear that this what you are asking for.
