Extend the COVID Business Rate Holiday to closed Medical and Healthcare Services
Medical businesses which are defined as "(e.g. vets, dentists, doctors, osteopaths, chiropractors.)” are explicitly excluded without justification from the COVID Business Rate Holiday.
We want the Government to include closed medical businesses in the Business Rate Holiday.
Many of the excluded medical services do not provide urgent care and are not part of the COVID response. Nor do they receive any form of government or NHS funding.
They have been forced to close during the lockdown to protect their staff and patients.
Like retail businesses they operate on thin margins. It is unfair that they are not included. Many will not survive this period due to high costs and loss of income. Thus depriving the community of valuable services, jobs and tax revenue.
