Petition Action

Launch a law to protect people from consecutive payments without attention.

Petition Details

Launch a law to prevent people from business who exploit people by
renewal any products/loyalty programs automatically. People may move the houses or do not check transaction history, these are pinholes that let the company take advantage on people. If someone die, the card may keep charging!

Additional Information

Last year, I bought an insurance from a company. Recently, it sent me a "quotation" by post. Just a quote, so I ignore it. Important texts of payment wasn't mentioned on the 1st page.

16/04/2020 6:16 am, I was charged despite I didn't leave my card details on website. I rejected it immediately & contact the bank, but since I had transaction history once, the bank can do nothing. Company didn't pick up the phone.

Charged again next day at 3 am during sleeping, so I can't reject it in time.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. We understand you're concerned about recurring payments, but we're not sure whether you'd like them banned or for there to be stricter laws on the notice that has to be provided.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
