Fund meaningful payrise for frontline NHS workers by increasing top rate of tax
Throughout the Covid-19 crisis, front line NHS staff have gone above and beyond what should ever be expected of them. Putting the needs of patients over and above their own safety in the national interest.
Parliament should fund giving front line NHS workers a meaningful pay increase
In 2011, pay rises for NHS staff were frozen, and from 2013 these have been capped at 1% (https://www.newstatesman.com/politics/health/2018/03/why-government-s-pay-rise-nhs-workers-barely-pay-rise-all)
In 2017 the house of commons voted 323 to 309 to maintain this cap (https://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/1269007/NHS-pay-mps-voted-against-nhs-nurse-pay-rise-Boris-Johnson-Matt-Hancock-voting-history)
Increasing the top rate of tax would have little impact on these individuals benefiting NHS staff
