Covid-19 - Independent public inquiry into preparedness and response

Petition Details

That once the worst of the Covid-19 crisis has passed a full and independent public inquiry under the Inquiries Act 2005 is established with cross-party agreement, without undue delay into preparedness for, and response to, the pandemic.

Additional Information

The purpose should be to provide recommendations to improve future preparedness and responses to pandemics and not to apportion blame to any individual.

Political leaders should commit to seeking consensus among themselves on its form and timing. Such matters as the terms of reference and choice of chair should require cross-party agreement.
