Investigate the irresponsible COVID-19 reporting by the UK Press.
Parliament / Government shall establish an independent inquiry into the irresponsible and panic-inducing behaviour and the misrepresentative reporting which the UK media (of all types) has undertaken during the COVID-19 national emergency.
The UK media has consistently sought to sensationalise all aspects of the COVID-19 emergency which has exasperated people’s feeling of fear / panic, and sought to undermine Government’s efforts to chart a pragmatic path through the situation. The media has used inaccurate / false reporting (See HMG response to the Sunday Times Insight article) which has had a detrimental effect on the UK’s morale, adversely affected national cohesiveness and further undermined trust in the UK Press Corps.
