Changing Tuition fees for students studying a healthcare profession
Students studying nursing/midwifery/paramedics shouldn't pay back tuition fees if they commit to the NHS for a minimum of 3 years once qualified. Tuition fees should be paid if commitment to NHS is not completed. Students should receive wage during placement and maintenance loans still to be repaid.
There is a reoccurring shortage of nurses every year, a 3 year commitment to the NHS will prevent this shortage in an ongoing cycle. Students will be more inclined to study a healthcare profession because they won’t be in as much debt, all maintenance loans must be paid in full. This will help benefit the country and further development of the NHS. Releasing pressure from current NHS trusts and employees.
