Cut the pay of all MP's and all government ministers by 20% during lockdown.

Petition Details

Many British citizens have lost their jobs or have had their salary cut during the lockdown period. To show that we are all in this together, MP's and government ministers should take a 20% pay cut also.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You can find out more about IPSA here: www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/

You could start a petition calling for the Government to reduce ministerial salaries, as this is something the Government can do.
