Examine the UK's failure to sign up to the EU coronavirus procurement scheme
Please call for and examine all relevant documentation around the decision. The public have been offered two versions of why this decision was made both from government sources. Please let us know why we were not enrolled.
At this time of great emergency we need to have faith that the decisions being made are solely grounded in science, good faith and the overarching public protection. It is very important that the public have faith in the decision making process and the public scrutiny of it where there is any doubt.
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
It's not clear whether you are calling for a public inquiry, which would be set up by the Government, or for action by Parliament.
Since you started your petition, the Foreign Affairs Committee, which scrutinses the Foreign Office, has written the Foreign Secretary about this issue, and published this exchange of correspondence: committees.parliament.uk/publications/1686/documents/16453/default/
The work of individual Committees is a matter for each Committee, but you could start a petition either calling for an inquiry into why the UK Government did not join the EU joint procurements, or calling for the Government to release any papers on this to a relevant parliamentary Committee.
We have published the following petitions, which you might like to sign:
