Petition Action

Stop all mp's expenses for atleast the next 12 months.

Petition Details

parliament should suspend all mp's expenses for atleast 12 months to help pay for the coronovirus pandemic. If we the people are expected to make changes to our living standards, then so should they.

Additional Information

As millions of people across the country face an uncertain future and financial hardship brought on by the coronovirus pandemic and the 2 months of lockdown that followed, is it really fair for mp's to claim public money for such items as rent costs of up to £4000 a month, travel/fuel costs, council tax bill, water bill, electic bill, gas bill, broadband bill, phone bill, mobile phone contracts, tv licence. While we struggle to keep food on the table, mp's are living off atleast 10,000 a month.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The UK Government and Parliament aren't responsible for setting MPs' pay. The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA) is responsible for deciding on MPs' expenses and pay. IPSA is independent of both Parliament and Government.

You can find out more about IPSA here: www.theipsa.org.uk/about-us/

Donating money would be a decision for individual MPs, not the UK Government or Parliament.
