Allow garden centres and plant nurseries to open during lockdown
The government should amend current lockdown regulations to allow garden centres and plant nurseries to open with social distancing measures in place such as those being used by supermarkets.
Gardening is an important contribution to our mental health and well being. Being unable to get hold of the plants and resources for gardening reduces these benefits.
Garden Centres and plant nurseries are usually spacious. They could open safely using social distancing measures like supermarkets.
Millions of plants are being wastefully and unnecessarily thrown away just when people want to grow their own produce, be more self sufficient and interest their children in growing plants.
