Direct Democracy for the United Kingdom
The Government should draw cross-party support for the creation of a written British Constitution, whereby the people could be the executive body of law.
As seen in Switzerland, if a certain number of people petition, there would be a national referendum on the subject.
This would require the supremacy of the British Parliament over the laws of the European Parliament and the right to guaranteed freedom of speech enshrined in law.
I believe this would further British democracy by ridding the unelected (House of Lords) from law making and allowing ordinary people to decide on everyday issues.
