Provisional register for pre-regs can jeaporidise public safety!Let’s stop this!
We as healthcare professionals and members of public are concerned for patient safety, allowing provisional pharmacists to practice outside their scope of competence, lacking rigorous examination, as implemented by GPhC in previous years.
Historical evidence suggests significant portion of those taking pre-reg exam each year fail, highlighting further training is required to uphold GPhC standards. We are also concerned with the proposed plans that pre-reg tutors will be considering the competence of pre-reg pharmacists. Tutors have been facing unprecedented pressures and time constraints to serve their communities. They may not be best in considering competency of students in a balanced way.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Decisions about professional qualifications and registration are a matter for individual regulators of professions, in this case the General Pharmaceutical Council, and not the Government or Parliament.
