Negotiate with the EU a ban on live animal transportation for export from the UK
EU rules currently force the UK to allow transportation of live farm animals overseas (export) for fattening/slaughter.A definitive date for Brexit has now occurred.Government should now urgently start negotiations with the EU to overturn this current EU law and stop sending live animals abroad.
In response to a previous petition the Government have clearly stated that it is their intention to end the live exportation of animals but that they were only able to do so once Brexit has occurred.Given the current developments surrounding the delivery of Brexit with potentially a year of trade negotiations ahead, we are asking that negotiations are prioritised and started immediately allowing the Government to end the live transportation of animals by lorry, train, air and sea.
