Expectant mothers to receive full maternity pay in the light of Covid-19
Expectant mother’s to receive full SMP pay of 90% of wages rather than it calculated on the 80% currently received on furlough.
SMP is usually 90% of full pay. However during the pandemic most expectant mothers are placed on furlough which reduces normal wages to 80%. Women whose maternity pay is currently being calculated will then effectively receive 70% of pay once SMP starts.
Please help expectant mothers to receive full SMP during & after this pandemic.
Thank you

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
Since you started your petition, the Government has changed the rules regarding Statutory Maternity Pay so that it is calculated based on typical earnings not on furlough pay.
