Petition Action

Stop owls being used in shopping centers

Petition Details

Owls are very precious birds. They deserve quality of life and not to be used in shopping centers for money. Holding them for photographs causes unnecessary stress.

Additional Information

Owls should be free to fly and not chained to perches for hours. They shouldn't be in noisy environments as they have sensitive hearing.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

It's already a criminal offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal or for someone in charge of an animal permit any unnecessary suffering, so we're not sure what else you'd like the UK Government or Parliament to do.

If you're worried about a specific animal, you can contact the police: www.police.uk/forces/
or the RSPCA:
www.rspca.org.uk/utilities/contactus/reportcruelty

You could also start a new petition asking the UK Government to review the animal welfare legislation and issue specific guidance to ensure the needs of birds are fully considered, if that's something you'd like to happen.
