Report weekly how many hospitalised COVID-19 patients have metabolic issues
The government should report on a regular basis the share of metabolic-related underlying conditions among COVID-19 patients hospitalised or on oxygen support.
The government should provide a complete plan to reduce the level of metabolic-related conditions among the British population.
Several studies in the UK & around the world have shown a strong link between COVID-19 severe infections and metabolic-related issues as an underlying cause.
Metabolic-related issues include:
- obesity
- high visceral fat
- Diabetes Type II
- non kidney-related hypertension
- other conditions
- 83% COVID-19 Hospitalised cases in France are Obese (Le Monde)
- Obesity leading cause of hospitalisation in New York (The Sun Newspaper)
- Obesity leading cause of hospitalisation in UK
(Telegraph)
You can't sign this petition because it was rejected. But you can still comment on it here at Repetition.me!
The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government isn't responsible for capturing data about health conditions of people who have contracted Covid-19. This would be a matter for NHS.
You may have seen that yesterday the Prime Minister stated that the Government would be bringing forward a strategy to address obesity in the UK: hansard.parliament.uk/Commons/2020-07-22/debates/AE78F04E-6394-4484-86EF-CF53E55D595E/Engagements#contribution-B4ED7958-2C94-4A9F-A8C6-E39670AF7DE1
You could start a petition calling for the Government to take a specific action or increase funding to tackle obesity, if that is what you want to happen.
