Print and Television news media must cite and reference clearly.
Print newspapers and television news media must cite and reference ALL their evidence clearly in a proper academic style (Harvard, APA, MLA etc.) either in print or on an online page. Citations should have name(s), year and page number if possible.
Often articles and television news segments will not clearly demonstrate exactly where they found their evidence or how to access it. Too often evidence is cited without page numbers, names, dates or links to source(s). Sometimes there is no reference given at all.
Survey evidence has consistently demonstrated great levels of distrust in the news media. Greater transparency in displaying where evidence has come from will enhance education and public trust in our media and democracy.

Regulation of the press is the responsibility of the Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO), not the Government or Parliament.
