Petition Action

Investigate DVSA Driving Test Failure Rates in UK Driving Test Centres & Reform

Petition Details

Investigate why it is easier/harder to pass driving tests in some UK driving test centres which are administered by Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) & their examiners (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-46976751). Review & assess the standard/conduct of all driving test examiners & the DVSA.

Additional Information

1. Obtain all records & investigate each examiner’s performance, pass/failure rate & conduct in practical driving tests for cars, lorries, riders, taxi drivers & ADI tests

2. Introduce a new role & more accountability for the Department for Transport to carry out an annual assessment of each examiners performance/conduct & obtain all records to ensure uniform standards & reform where needed.

3. Allow driving test candidates to use test centre facilities for at least 15 minutes before Driving Tests

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Petitions need to call on the Government or Parliament to take a specific action.

We're not sure exactly what you'd like the Government or Parliament to do. You could start a petition calling for an inquiry into regional disparties between driving test centres, or for the Government to create a regulator for driving tests, like for Ofsted and schools.

You could start a new petition explaining clearly what you would like the Government or Parliament to do.
