Allow hairdressers to open when other small shops do.
Hairdressers have always worked to high standards of hygiene, this combined with the wearing of masks would mean getting your hair done would likely be just as safe, if not safer than doing your weekly food shop, clothes shopping or even visiting a relative.
Having a hair appointment, can be that small thing that lifts your mood, and makes you feel yourself again at a time when things are difficult. For the clients and hairdressers alike, it enables people to have a chat with a familiar face. Hairdressing is a huge industry, which is currently costing the tax payer through the job retention scheme, and the self employment support scheme, these people don’t need to be supported if they are allowed to work.
