Revoke changes to Congestion Charge to bailout TFL due to Covid19 PANDEMIC

Petition Details

Revoke the changes to the Congestion Charge to claw back profit loses to TFL as a result of Covid19.

Additional Information

The Government wants individuals to where possible work from home, however those that cannot to return to work whilst maintaining Social Distancing and if possible travel to work via vehicle to reduce overcrowding on TFL transportation. This is all in light of the ONGOING Covid19 pandemic. But now charging MORE and EXTENDING the Congestion Charge times. This is a complete contradiction and immoral.

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We can't accept your petition because the issue you raise is not the responsibility of the Government or Parliament. This is the responsibility of the London Assembly.
You can petition the London Assembly directly: www.london.gov.uk/about-us/london-assembly/petitions

The Government has agreed a package consisting of a mixture of grants and loans based upon a series of conditions agreed by the mayor, including the reinstatement of the congestion charge: www.gov.uk/government/news/government-grants-transport-for-london-funding-package

You could start a petition calling on the Government to reimburse people, or particular groups of people, for the cost of the congestion charge, if that is what you want to happen. You could also start a petition calling on the Government to seek to revise the terms of its support for Transport for London, so that this is not conditional on the reinstatement of the congestion charge.
