State School pupils must receive optional online lessons 9-3pm during lockdown.
The Government should enforce optional online lessons by State Schools.
During lockdown, most private schools are providing online lessons to their pupils, but most state schools are not doing this. This is unfair. As a result, the gap between advantaged and disadvantaged children is widening. If a change in the law is needed, this should happen. If updated guidance from the Department for Education is required, it should be. Pupils also need access to the necessary equipment to take part in activities already sent from school.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
The Government is responsible for determining whether schools should be allowed to open or be required to close, and for issuing guidance to schools on operating during the coronavirus outbreak.
However, decisions about teaching arrangements during any period of closure is a matter for individual schools, not the Government or House of Commons. Ofsted is responsible for making sure that organisations providing education, training and care services in England do so to a high standard for children and students.
