Stop London Congestion Charge price increase, and weekend and evening charging.
It is beyond belief that in the midst of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the London Mayor has chosen this moment to:
a) increase the price of the London Congestion Charge from £11.50 to £15.
b) Extend the time charging finishes daily from 6pm to 10pm.
c) Start charging on Saturdays and Sundays.
We plead with the Government to explore all powers available to it, as a matter of extreme urgency, to ensure that these draconian changes to the hours, days and pricing of the London Congestion Charge are not implemented.
Not only will these changes encourage further overcrowding of public transport, thus leading to greater infection rates, but central London's night-time and weekend economy DESPERATELY needs all the help it can get. This non-democratic measure will have the opposite effect.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:
We can't accept your petition because the issue you raise is not the responsibility of the Government or Parliament. This is the responsibility of the London Assembly.
You can petition the London Assembly directly: www.london.gov.uk/about-us/london-assembly/petitions
The Government has agreed a package consisting of a mixture of grants and loans based upon a series of conditions agreed by the mayor, including the reinstatement of the congestion charge: www.gov.uk/government/news/government-grants-transport-for-london-funding-package
You could start a petition calling on the Government to reimburse people, or particular groups of people, for the cost of the congestion charge, if that is what you want to happen. You could also start a petition calling on the Government to seek to revise the terms of its support for Transport for London, so that this is not conditional on the reinstatement of the congestion charge.
