Ban traffic cones on the road where there are no roadworks in progress

During almost any journey, a motorist will encounter road lanes coned off for roadworks where there are no roadworks taking place, or where work is being carried out off the road.

These cause huge and unneccessary delays, and must be costing the economy £billions every year in lost time, missed business appointments, late deliveries etc.

Every roadworks site should have one well paid person whose primary remit is to place cones where and when work is taking place, and then to remove them as soon as work stops.

The cost of paying these "Cone Emplacers" will be far outweighed by the saving to the economy.
