Review the legal status of cannabis in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Due to the lockdown imposed by Government, the economy is predicted to fall into the deepest recession for over 300 years. It is submitted the Government legalise all medicinal and recreational uses of cannabis and use the billions in tax revenue to keep the economy afloat.
The treasury are currently searching for methods to raise tax revenue and pay for the emergency furlough schemes implemented by Chancellor of the Exchequer.
A cannabis sin-tax is a reasonable method of taxation that would undoubtedly raise tax income. It is of paramount importance that Parliament re-debate the issue of the legal status of cannabis in light of the incoming recession and take into consideration the renewed benefits legalisation of cannabis would offer to society.
