Extend the SEISS (Self Employed Income Support Scheme) alongside furlough scheme
The government have thankfully extended the furlough scheme for UK businesses and employees through to October 2020, but are yet to make any announcements regarding the self employed income support scheme. We urge the chancellor and government to extend this scheme until at least Oct 2020 too.
The disparity between planned income support for business and the self employed means that millions of SE people will soon have zero support (from 1st June) jeopardising the livelihoods and business for so many. The furlough extension is extremely thankfully received, but now is the time to bring the SEISS in line with this, safeguarding hundreds of thousands of jobs, families and careers.
