Make it mandatory to clearly identify country of origin of imported goods
Regulate the law around product labelling to help consumers make well informed decision when choosing one product over another. Enforce importers/retailers to emphatically state the country of origin of imported goods and place of assembly when applicable. Make rules similar to Food Information Reg.
It is critical that during economic meltdown capital stays at home. Consumers would support local producers if imported goods country of origin would be exposed on the packaging clearly enough. Current law says: "You don’t have to show particular information on the label for every kind of product, but if you include it you must be accurate. [...]" [more: https://www.gov.uk/product-labelling-the-law]. It is in the Nation best interest to be able to tell where their money eventually goes to.
