Review the school year term dates and amend them in line with the calendar year
Consider aligning the school year with the calendar year to allow the government time to plan a phased return to schools (September - December) in their current year groups, starting the new school year groups in January 2021.
By returning in January to the new school year, children would be given time to phase return to school in their current year group and finish off studies, reducing anxiety from also starting new schools at this difficult time. This is a fantastic opportunity to spread the school holidays more evenly throughout the year and address long standing issues with working parents trying to find childcare during the 6 weeks holidays and could improve the economy if more regular term breaks are added.
