Petition Details

Any actions by Civil Servants or other Government officials to breach Lockdown rules should be treated as gross misconduct and should lead to dismissal.

The Government responded to this petition on Monday 3rd August 2020

Government Departments have procedures in place which allow appropriate action to be taken should a civil servant receive a criminal conviction.

The application of the law as set out in regulations made under The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020 to all individuals, whether civil servants, other government officials or other members of the public, is a matter for the police and the courts.

Government Departments have procedures in place which allow appropriate action to be taken should a civil servant receive a criminal conviction.
