Petition Action

Stop letting self isolating go on record as personal sickness at work.

Petition Details

In major supermarkets if you have to self isolate more than once it is going on record as personal sickness even though we are simply following government guidelines. Isolation is not a choice it's a government rule set to protect ourselves and others. We should not be penalised for following rules.

Additional Information

Self isolation is not a choice it's government guidelines which we have to follow be it once or more.
People should not be penalised for following government guidelines when it has been set to protect the country. After self isolating for a week I've had to again as my child had a temperature , I was then called by my manager stating as I previously self isolated this will now go as personal sickness.
I work for a major supermarket and have also emailed HR who confirmed it will go on record

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

The Government is not responsible for how individual employers record employee absences. This is a matter for individual employers.

You could start a petition calling on the Government to make it illegal for employers to take disciplinary action against employees in relation to any time take off to self-isolate in accordance with the Government's guidance, if that is what you want to happen.
