The Cabinet to lead by example
In light of the recent budget where pensioners are asked to take on an unfair burden; we the undersigned ask the Prime Minister to lead by example in the present financial crisis by asking the Palace of Westminster to shoulder an equal burden to that they expect from the country at large by immediately enacting legislation to:
- Cut MP’s pay by at least 5% with immediate effect and for the duration of this parliament
- Replace their gold plated final salary pension scheme with a career average scheme under the same terms and conditions as those being currently applied to other public servants
- Remove their privileged position of free first class travel and make them pay from within their own resources any upgrades they choose to pursue
- Limit the terms and conditions of their expenses to basic levels such as those found in an average small to medium size private sector company
