Petition Action

Encourage the government to force travel companies to refund their customers

Petition Details

We want the government to investigate and force travel companies who have applied for cash refund to fulfil their legal obligation and reimburse their customers.

Additional Information

Despite the travel and tourism industry being under significant financial pressure at this time, they have a legal obliagtion to refund their customers. Airlines such as easyJet and Ryanair are not refunding passengers and coercing them into taking vouchers for the value of their booking. This is wrong, and customers should be able to obtain a refund. Customers are under as significant financial pressure as the companies they demand the refunds from.

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

Arrangements for refunding, changing or rebooking travel are a civil matter between individual travellers and airlines or travel agents, not the Government or Parliament.
