Petition Action

Ensure Covid-19 rules and advice are followed fairly within the population

Petition Details

In light of recent events the government needs to take action that shows that it is serious that rules (or advice) created around Covid-19 must be followed by all sectors of the community

Additional Information

The public's confidence in the 'all in this together' stance of working to defeat the Covid-19 threat has been greatly dented by recent events. With the need to ask many individuals to isolate when their neighbours will not be it is really important that we all start feeling the system is fair and fairly applied. The government should take actions which send the message to the people that this is the case and they are serious about applying rules equally to all

This petition was rejected

The Government e-Petitions Team gave the following reason:

We understand that you are concerned about the consistency of compliance with Covid-19 restrictions, but it's not clear what you want the Government to do about this.

There are different rules and guidance for different people, as set on the Government's website: www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Decisions on whether to take action in relation to breaches of any related offences is a matter for local police forces and the Crown Prosecution Service, not the UK Government or Parliament.

We have published the following petition, which you might like to sign:
