Make the British Empire a compulsory part of the school curriculum
I would like the government to make it compulsory for schools to cover the British Empire and its impacts in the history curriculum for primary and secondary pupils.
The British Empire had a huge impact around the globe, and it's effects can be seen and are relevant today. However, very few people are aware of anything more than a vague outline.
We cannot fully understand ourselves and the world we live in today if we do not connect with our past.
Though there may be things in our past that make us uncomfortable, we can only make positive changes if we are honest and open.
