Make it compulsory for Black & POC UK history to be taught in schools.
Make it compulsory for primary and secondary school students to be educated on both the history and culture's of Black & POC in the UK, including Britain's role in colonisation & slavery.
Growing up we knew about black American history, but what about the UK? The effects of the glamorisation of the British empire has filtered down through generations and have been suppressed by white privilege. This ignored racism now leaves many ethnic minorities in a disadvantaged situation. The curriculum should make it clear the role that racism has played in the UK, therefore helping to build a stronger society.
