Allow zoos in the UK to open with social distancing guidelines in place
Given the easing on coronavirus lockdown restrictions, I want zoos to be allowed to re-open.
It doesn't make sense that people can go to outdoor beauty spots, where distancing isn't enforced, yet a zoo cannot open. Zoos could easily limit numbers, shut indoor spaces & have signposting throughout.
Zoos up and down the country are losing funding for vital conservation efforts and money to enable them to continue feeding and caring for the animals in their care.
I am extremely worried that many zoos will not survive this, forcing animals to die unnecessarily and conservation efforts worldwide to be thwarted.
Ultimately if indoor spaces are set to open in July and outdoor spaces are already open to the public, it is absurd for zoos which are largely outdoors, to remain closed.
