Lying politicians should face criminal proceedings
Parliament should enact a law or laws that make it a criminal offence to knowingly mislead the electorate for personal, party or political gain.
Too frequently politicians tell lies and there seems to be absolutely no consequence - except to be voted out at an election. The time interval between elections is too long and give MP's and Ministers years in which to act as they wish often with impunity. There must now be an independent regulator of politicians to hold them account for their misdeeds.
