Reduce dividend tax to help directors of small businesses survive

Petition Details

To reduce each dividend tax band by 7.5% to effectively give a starting rate of zero, backdated to 2019/20 tax returns.

Additional Information

The government has not supported the thousands of small business owners paying a portion/whole of their salary in dividends whilst millions of people have benefited from the furlough and self employed schemes to great effect. This has resulted in extreme hardship for many directors and their families which could lead to thousands of profitable businesses failing.

The issue has been raised numerous times but the government has stated it is too difficult to distinguish the source of the dividend.
