introduce a flat 20 mph speed limit in all residential areas in cities
A flat 20mph speed limit in all residential areas in cities would assume automatically that the limit is 20mph unless otherwise stated by signage.
This would greatly enhance safety, an injury at 20mph is a death at 30mph
naturally enhance all residential areas making them more pleasant to live in
Be far simpler to monitor than present very ad hoc measures and also be a great deal cheaper and cost effective than current road quieting methods
Be much easier for motorists to understand than current confusing measures
still allow faster through routes and ring roads encouraging people to use these rather than short cuts as rat runs
