Petition Action

Make removal of historic monuments and statues a criminal offence.

Petition Details

Recent protests, conducted by a small minority of the population have led to calls for the removal of historic monuments across the country.

We wish Parliament to legislate, making the wilful destruction or removal of such monuments for any reason other than pubic safety, offence under law.

Additional Information

The Mayors of London and Manchester are known to be initiating reviews of monuments in their cities. Most such monuments, particularly in London, commemorate national figures and are the property of the Nation not any one city. We believe that individual communities have no right to remove national monuments and statues.
