Petition Action

Make it illegal for newspapers to post untrue headlines on Facebook and Twitter

Petition Details

News outlets posting on Facebook BREAKING NEWS with misleading headlines when the truth is in the article should be illegal. E.g. “Now the inbetweeners is axed for being offensive” but acknowledging this isn’t true in the article. Used to ignite hate and fear as people don’t read the full article.

Additional Information

The parliament have a responsibility to create a fair, unbiased and democratic society. Allowing this behaviour to continue is allowing the newspapers to ignite fear and hatred causing unrest and violence. It creates an unnecessary divide between the general public based on misinformation and lies, so they can profit economically and politically. By the parliament allowing this they are agreeing to allow lies to be fed to the general public, and it is about time they took a stand for the people.
