Ensure teachers are trained about the impacts of racism so they can teach it.
Children are inspired daily by the adults around them, including their teachers. Teachers must be trained appropriately on such topics so that they are in a position to hold these meaningful, raw and uncomfortable conversations.
If teachers are not trained on such matters they will not be able to assist children that want to talk about their experiences, they will simply be reading from the board which takes the word 'meaningful' out of the title. This is key in ensuring teachers are preparing the future generations for the world. It is also in line with what is already taught however is a much more sensitive issue that must be addressed appropriately to be impactful and mindful of others.
