Refund "slave compensation" tax paid to slave owners & use for Black community
In 1835 the British gov took out a huge loan for 'slave compensation'. Instead of going to freed slaves, the money went to slave owners, as compensation for loss of "property". UK taxpayers were paying this loan back until 2015. That means descendants of those enslaved also helped pay it back.
No reparations or apology has ever been granted by the British state to the people it enslaved, or their descendants.
Lack of compensation has resulted in:
Inequality in UK society
Institutionalised racism & underfunding in every aspect of life for the Black community including, but not limited to: Healthcare, Socialcare, Education, Law enforcement & Employment.
We ask for an apology to be made & rightful reparations be injected into the Black community to address these issues.
