A memorial to the men of the West Africa Squadron who died to stop slavery
Raise a statue or other significant memorial to the men of the Royal Navy West Africa Squadron who gave their lives to stop slavery. The statue or memorial should be in Central London, within 1 mile approximately of the Houses of Parliament.
This would help to balance the historical record and display the positive aspects of Britain’s struggle to stop slavery. It would be a focus of moderate thought and a symbol of social harmony and integration.

Decisions about individual historical monuments, statues, plaques and street names are a matter for the local authority in which they are located and private landowners, not the UK Government or Parliament.
