Change the name of Mecca Bingo "Demand respect for sacred places"
Top Rank Organisation 2018 decision to rename their gambling venues throughout the UK Mecca Bingo is at least as deeply offensive in 2020 to the majority of Britain 2.8 million Muslims today as it was in 1997 to the much smaller Muslim community of Luton
whose protests then at the use of the name of Islam’s Holiest city in branding a gambling led Top Rank Organisation to drop Mecca from their commercial branding. rekindle that offence in 2018 is unacceptable in 21st Century multicultural Britain built on mutual respect and tolerance for race and religion. Nothing illustrates the mosaic of this nation and its cohesion as its NHS. Many of the NHS staff who lost their lives in the pandemic were members of Britain’s Muslim community.
