Implement the recommendations set out in The Lammy Review.
The Lammy Review set out recommendations to decrease racial disproportionality in the treatment and outcomes of Black, Asian and minority ethnic (BAME) individuals in the Criminal Justice System. The government must take tangible action to implement these to decrease the racial disproportionality.
The lack of action by the Government on the experience of BAME individuals in the Criminal Justice System has persisted despite clear evidence demonstrating the presence of racial disproportionality and differential treatment. These findings have been ignored for long enough, leaving the system shown to perpetuate these to continue unchanged. We must seek to implement the recommendations set out in the Review to ensure BAME individuals no longer face disproportionately negative outcomes.
